Scotland Unplugged

My name is Robert Parker. I am a writer, content creator and tour guide, based in Edinburgh.

I grew up on a farm in Galloway, in Scotland's hidden south west corner. Galloway is a place bursting with history and folklore; somewhere that still inspires me and fires my imagination.

I have lived in a few different places, and done a variety of different things; from stand-up comedy to selling cars to agricultural engineering. After meeting my wife I settled here in Edinburgh.

In 2023, after working in the corporate world for thirteen years, I made the mad leap into full-time writing and content creation. I make quick, quirky videos, showcasing Scotland's history and scenery. I travel through our landscapes to the places where stories happened (or occasionally didn't happen!).

In 2025, I decided to extend what I do to guided tours. In an age of ever increasing reliance on devices, and the relentless march of social media, I want to offer something truly "Unplugged."
